# Breeding DomoDucks

## **DomoDucks (Gen2)**

**DomoDucks** was the first collection to enable holders to become on-chain breeders such that their inscriptions were capable of mating to produce genetic offspring. Holders who were able to collect differing breeds of male and female ducks were permitted to inscribe children below the two love birds as multi-parent inscriptions, and the first 42 offspring officially became part of the **DomoDucks** collection.

**DomoDucks (Gen2)**, simply put, are the second generation of DomoDucks. Each one is the child of two first-generation parents. The prior generation contained 5 distinct duck species (i.e., Mallard, Mandarin, Harlequin, Smew, and Wood Duck), meaning that a total of 40 hybrids were possible. They were inscribed entirely by the community, and each child is linked, on-chain, with the prior generation via multi-parent-child provenance: a lineal descent that's traceable back to Inscription #256—the first duck inscribed on Bitcoin.\
